I would like to know as well, especially hooking up to a 12V DC power source.

I have almost the same question, is it possible to hook it up to a 12 volt source such as an RV or car battery?

I guess my real question is, if working with a 48vdc power source, is it more efficient to run a DC version of the motor or to covert power
    to 110vac or 220vac?

I have the v4 manual - are there any changes that need to be made if the power source is going to be DC instead of AC?
