for economics you can build a keppe motor from a 6 inch axial fan, but you have got to wind the stator alternating the poles clockwise and counterwise. the timing is for on o to 60 degrees and 180 to 240 and works good with opti communicator. it runs smooth and quite. the original fan drew 1.9 amps at 12 volts ,with this modification it drew 120 millamps at 12 volts and runs about the same speed. it has iron core coils,but seems to work the same. this motor is a outrunner with ceramic magnet ring(n s n s) . I am thinking of making a new magnet ring with strong magnets. happy motoring.
